What is a pipe centering head used for?

A centering head is a layout tool used to find and mark the exact centre of a pipe end or bore. It's used to set centre lines for butt-in branches, establish angles, locate points inside pipes and tanks, and mark accurate positions for drilling, cutting and fitting. The heads clamp onto a length of pipe used as a trammel bar, allowing circles or arcs of any diameter to be scribed from a fixed centre point.

What markers can I use with a centering head?

Curv-O-Mark centering heads accept round, square or flat soapstone crayon, pencil or a steel point scribe, giving you flexibility depending on the pipe surface and visibility requirements. Flat soapstone markers are also available separately on the site and are compatible with the contour marker range.
